Volunteers Working Groups
In order to achieve many of its objectives, iiScotland relies on the hard work and dedication of volunteers. It has identified key priority areas for helpers to assist in developing further, these are the following;
Research and Development
Much of iiScotland's materials have been developed in-house due to the lack of availability of ready-made appropriate materials. The tasks include researching content for website including audio-visual material, content for leaflets on relevant subject matter and creating poster-sets on interesting and thought-provoking themes. This dept is ideal for those with skills in research, writing and creativity.
Schools Presentations
As the first point of contact for Schools, Teachers, Parents, who want training, who need literature & resources etc . In order to achieve this iiScotland seeks to create a team of volunteers to deliver presentations to schools in classrooms with children of all age groups,.
The tasks also include developing presentations on themes and topics of relevance to children of various age-groups, and developing worksheets to accompany them. iiScotland is also often asked to facilitate visits by schools to mosques. These tasks could be ideal for parents seeking to provide assistance to their child's school.
Exhibitions and Information stalls
Street stalls are often the first encounter for people to discuss their questions on Islam & Muslims, yet the experience of talking to people face to face about your faith can be an exhilarating one. iiScotland will provide training to volunteers for this field of work.
iiScotland is seeking to develop permanent exhibitions in key mosques, on the basics of Islam with a section on Frequently Asked Questions and misconceptions about Islam. The form of the exhibition will be a combination of posters and free leaflets to take away. These tasks could be perfect for those who enjoy engaging with the public or feel their local mosque could benefit from such an exhibition.
